reBlog: "You're Too Expensive"

Yes, I am expensive... so do she? And her very well say. "Trust me, when you tell a photographer, "You're too expensive," it's like a punch in the gut. I don't want to get rich. I just want to make a living doing what I love. Just take all of these things into consideration when you are shopping for your photographer soulmate. When you choose the right person to work with, your session will be fun and worth every penny!"

Prevent Multi Point Of Failure

Just talk with ACON's engine, and they will fix and resume use the flash port in their receiver instead of using the hotshoe for fake HSS / Hypersync / HiSync / Supersync whatever you call to trigger. Although the current connection is working fine but, it may too much of connection point need to check if the flash is not firs. Good work ACON, I will wait for the new firmware.

The Progress Of A Photography Project Part 1 Preproduction / Scouting

Today I am in Macau, and at 3:00pm I meet their designer and walk around the area I suggested for their fashion photography shoot (a upcoming photography shoot in 1 Dec).   We looking for interesting spot in the location, and doing snapshots for further pre production planning. After we confirm the location, we do have a coffee break and further discuss about what she want us to deliver,   After we done the note, I wait alone till 6:00pm and get back to the location... and scouting again... this time mainly to check the lighting for the planned photography time.   I do snapshot with different ISO to evaluating the lighting equipments needed for the real shoot. Day one job done, then I go home.

Satel One Testing Is Done, Can Use In Real Production At Next Photographic Assignment

Satel One is a self contained battery flash like HD600 or roverlight it state that is 600ws but actually it is 400ws as out test (1/2 stop less than other 600ws flash). Just 2.2kg included battery and with a handle on top... I love handle! The Good: Flash output is very stable not much +/- 1/10 happen as other similar flash I used. The Strange: It's digital power control seems fault but still workable (it is 6 Step with 0.1 increment)  as below. 1.0-2.0 = 1 Stop 2.0-3.0 = 1 Stop 3.0-4.0 = 1/2 stop 4.0-5.0 = 1/2 stop 5.0-6.0 = 1/2 stop

How Many Photographer Actually Know Photography?

Today one of my student finally follow my advice... he take his 600ws battery pack to do some real outdoor flash model photography. As his result, he comment... he feel he can't well control the fake HSS flash with ambient light... he agree this due to not enough exercise... and one serious misunderstanding in his brain is today's fake HSS shots without banding line in the frame is due to he using a wide angle lens(that is actually not related). That's ok and acceptable if he is a just a hobbyist, but he is a senior photography tutor... who teaching in 3 photography school to certificate senior photographers at China... and he making good money then me ;)

Sometime They Don't Need A Professional Photographer Actually

A prospect just asked for a quote of professional corporate headshot, and after I review her current picture (also the style she wanted) I know she will scared by the fee... and she now really disappeared. Sometime I believe... if you want such quality of picture... you can go direct to Photomax, instead of talk with a professional photographer.

reBlog: Reuters will no longer accept edited Raw files from freelance photographers

"Change in its photo submission policy requesting that photographers submit out-of-camera JPEGs rather than JPEGs created from Raw files to the news agency. The message states that original JPEGs with 'minimal processing' are acceptable, for example, level corrections and cropping." I do agree too, now pictures is od with PS, and no more a photograph. (Will the dating site / app do the same ;) ) Dpreview full article

Falcon Eyes Satel One LCD Display (Flip) Init Test

Working with umbrella deep m, umbrella shaft will block the LCD's Flip movements   S-1 is just a little manual flash, it don't dance and sing... (no TTL / HSS / remote power adjust / on/off modeling light etc.) I buy it because now-a-day clients want cheap photography / simple shots, and I feel travel with pack and head flash system is no worth for them. So... The LCD panel in S-1 is bright and high contrast. it is easy to read in a regular headshot setup distance, That tilt panel let you setup the light in some angle that you normally don't want to with normal monoblocks.
